About Me

Meet Amie

Hello, I am so glad you’re here! My name is Amie Lee and I am a CAPPA Certified Labor Doula.  I live in the Des Moines area with my husband and five beautiful children. When I am not attending births, you can find me at home drinking coffee, baking, homeschooling my children, gardening, raising chickens, and enjoying our acreage.

My passion for doula work came soon after having my third child. Realizing that even though my previous three births were beautiful, I was missing the feeling of empowerment. I then began my doula journey while also in my heart preparing for the fourth birth that I hoped I would have one day. A desire grew in me to be a support to expecting mothers in such a special and sometimes overwhelming time in their life… to serve, inform, and support them, so they are able to feel empowered with their own birth! After a couple years of coming along side mothers, helping them prepare for and attending their births, we were blessed with our fourth child. I finally knew what it felt like to have an empowered birth! My desire is to have all women experience this incredible feeling! What I love the most about being a doula is not just seeing babies being born…but seeing the birth of a mother as well. This awe-inspiring moment of watching countless babies being born is always amazing, but seeing the birth of a mother, whether it’s their first time or fifth, is a joy like none other. I am so humbled to get to witness this moment! It is truly seeing the goodness of God over and over again!

Giving birth five times, both in the hospital setting and at home, and serving women both in the hospital setting and in their homes have equally healed me, humbled me, and stretched me. I am so grateful that God has called me to this beautiful work of serving women as a birth worker!
